Mass shooting in South Africa

On 14 January 2008, a mass shooting took place in Skierlik, an informal settlement in North West, South Africa. Four people, including a 3-month-old baby, were killed and eight others were injured in a racially motivated attack targeting black people. The perpetrator 18-year-old Johan Nel, shouted racial expletives during the shooting and was eventually arrested after attempting to seek refuge at a nearby farm.
