Earthquake in present-day Tajikistan
The 1949 Khait earthquake occurred at 09:45 local time on 10 July in Gharm Oblast of the Tajik SSR of the Soviet Union. It had a magnitude of 7.5 and triggered a series of landslides that together led to 7,200 deaths.
