The Gifford Fire was a megafire that burned in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties in the U.S. state of California. The fire began on August 1, 2025, and was declared 100% contained on September 28, 2025. It burned 131,614 acres (53,262 ha). It was one of the largest wildfires in the United States during the 2025 wildfire season.
