1846 killing of Nepalese government officials and royals
The Kot massacre was a political massacre that took place in Kathmandu in September 1846 at the Hanuman Dhoka palace complex. The killings followed the murder of the powerful courtier and military commander Gagan Singh Bhandari and occurred during a period of intense rivalry among Nepal's leading political and military families.
