Résumé

The Pan-American Congress of Panama is opened in Panama City by Simon Bolivar as an attempt to unify the republics of the Americas that have recently declared independence from Spain, or to at least make a federation to agree on a common defense policy and create a common military. The Congress lasts for 23 days without an agreement.

Congress of Panama

1826 convention of Latin American republics

The Congress of Panama was a congress organized by Simón Bolívar in 1826 with the goal of bringing together the new republics of Hispanic America to develop a unified policy towards the Spanish Empire and Holly Alliance. Although they were invited, neither Brazil nor the United States were part of this diplomatic alliance.
