Le traité de Sèvres, conclu le 10 août 1920 à la suite de la Première Guerre mondiale entre les Alliés victorieux et l'Empire ottoman, confirme l'armistice de Moudros. Ainsi, ce traité sera signé et respecté à la suite de cette demande, par le sultan Mehmed VI.
