1990 West Virginia teachers' strike
1990 strike action
In March 1990, several thousand public school teachers in the U.S. state of West Virginia went on strike due to disagreements with the state government over pay. The labor dispute, which was the first statewide teachers' strike in West Virginia's history, involved the state affiliates for both the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association and lasted eleven days.
