スタンダードの戦い
12世紀のイングランド内戦時に起きた大会戦
スタンダードの戦い（スタンダードのたたかい、ノーサラートンの戦いとも）とは、1138年8月22日、イングランドのヨークシャー、ノーサラートン近郊のコートン・ムーアで勃発した戦闘。オマール伯ウィリアム率いるイングランド軍と、スコットランド王デイヴィッド1世に率いられたスコットランド軍が激突し、イングランド軍の勝利で終わった。 当時、イングランド王スティーブンは、南部において反乱貴族らとの戦いに忙殺されており、北方へは主に傭兵から成る小規模な軍勢を派遣するに留まった。しかし、ヨーク大司教サースタンは、スコットランド勢を阻止することこそが神の御業であると説き、軍の組織に多大なる尽力した。これにより、イングランド軍の主力はヨークシャーおよびミッドランズ北部の地方民兵や貴族の家臣団によって構成されるに至った。
