聖ブリスの日の虐殺
11世紀にイングランドで起きた虐殺。結果としてデーン人によるイングランド侵攻を招いた。
聖ブリスの日の虐殺 とは、1002年11月13日にイングランド王エゼルレッド2世の命令により、イングランド国内のデーン人に対して行われた集団殺害である。『アングロサクソン年代記』は、この虐殺が、デーン人が「（エゼルレッドの）命を奪い、次いで彼の全評議会を滅ぼし、その後、何の抵抗も受けることなく彼の王国を手に入れる」であろうという告発への対抗措置として実行されたと伝えている。エゼルレッド王はこうして、自らの領土内の多くのデーン人を殺害するよう命じた。その後数年間にわたるデンマーク王スヴェンによる報復の結果、エゼルレッドは「無思慮王（あるいは準備不足、不適切な助言を受けた者）」というあだ名を得ることとなった。
