1910 mass killing of African Americans in Texas

The Slocum massacre was a mass killing of Black residents by white mobs on July 29–30, 1910, in Slocum, an unincorporated community in Anderson County near Palestine in East Texas. The death toll reported by major newspapers ranged between eight and 22, but evidence suggests as many as 200 African Americans were killed.
