1872 battle in Mali
The Battle of Guémoukoura was a battle in early March of 1872 between forces of the Umarian State, led by Ahmadu Tall, and Bamana forces led by members of the Massassi Dynasty, the former rulers of Kaarta. The battle ended in an Umarian victory, resulting in the dispersal of Bamana forces from the fortress.
