Trajan's Parthian campaign
114–17 Roman campaign in Mesopotamia
Trajan's Parthian campaign was engaged by Roman emperor Trajan from 113 to 117 against the Parthian Empire in Mesopotamia. The war was initially successful for the Romans, but a series of setbacks, including wide-scale Jewish uprisings in the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa and Trajan's death in 117, ended in a Roman withdrawal.
