On November 13, 2025, an armed confrontation occurred at the United States Embassy to Haiti complex in Tabarre, a northern suburb of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. The incident involved an exchange of gunfire between U.S. Marines and a group of armed assailants strongly suspected by the State Department to be local gang members affiliated with the powerful and volatile Viv Ansanm coalition.
