รัฐประหารในประเทศไทย พ.ศ. 2501
รัฐประหาร 20 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2501 เกิดขึ้นหลังจอมพล สฤษดิ์ ธนะรัชต์ รัฐประหารในปี พ.ศ. 2500 ล้มรัฐบาลจอมพลป. พิบูลสงคราม แล้วได้มอบหมายให้พจน์ สารสิน เอกอัครราชทูตไทยประจำ สหรัฐอเมริกา ดำรงตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรีเพื่อจัดการเลือกตั้ง และมีการเลือกตั้งขึ้นในวันที่ 15 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2500 ต่อมา วันที่ 1 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2501 พลเอก ถนอม กิตติขจร จึงขึ้นดำรงตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรี
