In der Nacht vom 28. Februar 1937 ereignete sich bei der Berninabahn der Lawinenunfall bei Alp Grüm, bei dem Bahnangestellte auf der Flucht aus einem festsitzenden Zug von einer Lawine erfasst wurden. Drei Eisenbahner fanden dabei den Tod.
