Cambrian Combine strike
Workers strike in 1910–11 in Rhondda, Wales
The Cambrian Combine strike was a major strike by coal miners in South Wales from 1910 to 1911 over wages and working conditions, culminating in violent confrontations with police and the deployment of military forces. It began as a dispute over payment rates for working a difficult coal seam at the Ely Pit in Penygraig but escalated into a wider conflict involving up to 30,000 miners.
