The Revolution in Circassia refers to various social changes in 17th-19th century Circassia which led to the eradication or weakening of social classes and the establishment of a council-based, "democratic" social structure in the most populous regions. This was achieved by reforms of some Circassian leaders, as well as a series of violent revolts by Circassian peasants known locally as the Peasants' War.
