Great Famine of 1695–1697
Famine in Northern Europe (1695–1697)
The Great Famine of 1695–1697, or simply the Great Famine, was a catastrophic famine that affected the present-day Finland and Estonia (1695–1697), Latvia, Norway and Sweden (1696–1698), all of which then belonged to the Kingdom of Sweden with the exception of Norway. The areas worst affected were Finland and Norrland in Sweden proper.
