La insurgencia del Ejército de Resistencia del Señor se basa en las campañas guerrilleras de diversos grupos insurgentes, destacando principalmente el Ejército de Resistencia del Señor, un grupo sectario cristiano, iniciado en 1987 tras el fin de la guerra civil ugandesa. Se desarrolla en el norte de Uganda pero también en el sur de Sudán del Sur y el este de República Democrática del Congo.
