Georgian–Ossetian conflict

1989–present conflict in the South Caucasus

The Georgian–Ossetian conflict is an ethno-political conflict over Georgia's former autonomous region of South Ossetia, which evolved in 1989 and developed into a war in 1991–1992. Despite a declared ceasefire and numerous peace efforts, the conflict, involving Georgia, Russia and self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia, remained unresolved.
