Live clouds
NOAA’s hourly mosaic of every geostationary weather satellite, laid over the map as clouds lit in 3D, so you can see at a glance where it is clear.
What you see
- Cloud from infrared and visible imagery, worldwide.
- Lit by the Sun, with heights estimated from how cold the cloud tops are.
Where the data comes from
- NOAA/NESDIS GMGSIThe Global Mosaic of Geostationary Satellite Imagery, through nowCOAST.
A new mosaic every hour, and the map checks every 5 minutes.
Good to know
- About 3 km per pixel, so small clouds blur together. Detail stops at zoom 6.
- The 3D look is a rendering, not measured cloud height.
