Hazards
Hurricanes and tropical storms
Active hurricanes and tropical storms with the National Hurricane Center’s forecast cone and track, and cyclone alerts from the rest of the world.
What you see
- NHC forecast cones and forecast points for Atlantic and eastern and central Pacific storms.
- Click a forecast point for its valid time, wind, gusts and pressure.
- Tropical cyclone alerts in other ocean basins, from GDACS.
Where the data comes from
- US National Hurricane CenterForecast cones, tracks and advisories.
- GDACSTropical cyclone alerts worldwide.
Cones are read every 5 minutes and redrawn every 10. The NHC issues advisories every 6 hours, and more often when a storm threatens land.
Good to know
- The cone shows where the storm’s centre is likely to go, not how big the storm is: its effects often reach far outside it.
- NHC forecasts cover the Atlantic and the eastern and central Pacific only.
