In the air
GPS jamming and interference
Aircraft broadcast how sure they are of their own position. Where many of them in one place report it poorly at once, something is interfering with GPS.
What you see
- Shaded 2° cells where at least a tenth of the aircraft, and at least three of them, report degraded navigation accuracy.
- Click a cell for the share of aircraft affected and how many were counted.
- Switch on flights to see the aircraft it is worked out from.
Where the data comes from
- adsb.lol and adsb.fiThe navigation accuracy (NACp) each aircraft reports in its ADS-B messages.
Recalculated with every flight update, every few minutes.
Good to know
- This is inferred. It can’t tell jamming from spoofing, or from a fault on one aircraft.
- A cell needs at least ten aircraft to be judged, so empty sky shows nothing even where interference is strong.
